This is an advanced level diploma course
that deals with both the prevention and management of HIV/AIDS
and other sexually transmitted diseases. It brings to the limelight
the complex and diverse nature of STI s and their impact on society,
particularly the poor. The programme consists of 3 modules; module
1 of which is the equivalent the diploma programme.
The advanced diploma is awarded only when all 3 modules have
been successfully completed. However, a student who completes
1 or 2 modules but does not continue with the programme may
apply for a diploma to be awarded for each module(s) which
is successfully completed. A certification fee is charged for
each award in these circumstances.
Furthermore, an individual may decide to enrol on any one
or more modules of the advanced diploma programme after which
a diploma will be awarded for each module passed. The cost
of these single subject diplomas will be equivalent to the
cost of the diploma course in HIV and AIDS prevention.
Students completing this course may proceed to higher education
at UK or British Commonwealth universities; in some cases gaining
advance credits.
